Summer in Europe can be a dream, but with so many incredible countries to explore, how do you narrow it down to just a few? One of the best ways to see more in less time is through Webjet cruise deals, but if you’re committed to doing it by land, here are some of the top spots to visit this summer:
Budapest
You may be surprised to learn that summer is incredible in Budapest. Sure, it’s not a beach city, but there are excellent views over the river, and you’ll be spoiled for choice when it comes to rooftop bars. The nightlife here is insane, however it can hit 37 degrees for weeks on end so do yourself a favor and skip July and August in favour for May, June, and September.
Macedonia
Macedonia is having a moment, and has much of the same scenery as Croatia but with far fewer tourists. Head to Lake Ohrid, where you can update Instagram to your heart’s content, check out the medieval churches, and explore crumbling fortresses. If you’re on a budget and keen to go somewhere a little less-known, Macedonia is an excellent option.
Madrid
While everyone wants to head to Barcelona, the locals aren’t as keen as they used to be when it comes to the hordes of tourists who descend every summer. Head to Madrid instead, where you can enjoy the excellent public transportation, top-notch shopping, and a slightly friendlier vibe. If you’re hoping to save money, visit in August. Sure, it’ll be hot, but there are plenty of excellent museums where you can enjoy the air conditioning, and you can always do as the locals do and enjoy a midday nap and a late dinner.
Bruges
Belgium is incredible, and if you want to feel like you’re walking through a fairytale, Bruges is waiting for you. Check out The Van Cleeff, which is 700 years old and one of the most interesting boutique hotels in Europe.
Lisbon
Lisbon has always been a stand-out in terms of affordability, but this city continues to become more attractive for both visitors and expats. If you love shopping, you’ll love Lisbon, which is packed with artisans selling jewelry, hats, shoes, and more.
If you’re planning a trip to Europe this summer and you’re not quite sure to go, the above destinations give you a great starting point. Another option? Check out Webjet holiday packages and enjoy a cheap deal while cutting down the amount of planning you have to do yourself.
