Top ways to reduce stress in 2019
May 26, 2020

Hoping to take control of your stress levels in 2019? Most of us are dealing with stress from work, kids, our partners, parents, friends, finances, and more. Unfortunately, that stress can quickly take over your life if you let it.

Luckily, we’ve got some top ways you can reduce stress in 2019:

Learn to meditate

If you thought meditating was all about chanting ‘Om’ you couldn’t be more wrong. People of all ages are meditating and learning mindfulness, with apps like Calm and Headspace making it easier than ever to stay in the present, relax, and even increase your focus.

Take a break

Sometimes, we all just need a break. Unfortunately, many workplaces have a culture that’s all about sacrificing and rarely (if ever) taking a holiday. Often, al it takes is for one person to start taking their holidays for it to become better for everyone, which is why it’s well worth being that person- if only for your own stress levels. To start, look for a cheap short break in the UK so you can simply get away from it all and relax. Turn your phone off, avoid your email, and simply chill out so you can return to work (and life) with a whole new attitude.

Get more sleep

It’s hard to be your best self when you’re not getting enough sleep. And it can be tempting to go too hard with the caffeine- meaning you’re constantly making the problem worse. One of the best things you can do is refuse to fall into this trap. Give yourself a bedtime and stick to it, and create a routine that will get you in the mood for sleep. This could mean taking a bath, meditating, lighting a relaxing candle, or a hot drink- whatever gives your body the signal that it’s time for sleep.

Work out

Exercising releases endorphins and helps you feel less stressed. But when you’re busy with work and other commitments, it can feel almost impossible to fit in a workout. If you do make time for exercise, you’ll be rewarded with those endorphins, better concentration, an improved mood, and of course, all the other health benefits that go along with it.
